A guy at the penguin parade told us that South Beach was the place to be for a "Sunday session." He recommended the World Bar for food, drinks and people watching. He actually told us he reserves the terrace every year for his birthday. We were determined to find it and after aimlessly walking through South Bank, we were successful and starving!
It was a beautiful day for live music, street performers, pizzas on a patio and a local market full of hand-crafted goods.
Today was definitely a day for relaxation and carbs.
Relaxation included an afternoon nap and some laundry back at Discovery before searching for more food. It's a good thing we've been walking almost every where this trip... I'm running low on Fat Fighters!
ChinChin was a highly recommended restaurant so we made our way there for dinner. The line was already filed out the door and by the time we made it to the front, there was a two hour wait! No, thank you. They don't take reservations so don't make our mistake and wait until you are hungry to show up!
Not too far away we found another alley way of cafes and restaurants so we stopped in at a small Italian restaurant. This is rare for us, although we love Pizza, neither of us really ever crave Pasta!
HOWEVER, this place was awesome! Tyler had a seafood pasta and I loved my chicken pesto linguini. It's crazy how one restaurant around the corner can have a two hour wait and there can be 10 other
incredible restaurants with no wait within walking distance.
We followed dinner with Affogato, something I fell in love with in Lubbock, TX, of all places. It's simply espresso with a scoop of gelato!
Not too much excitement for this day but that's okay... We have another long day in a van tomorrow for our Great Ocean Tour. From what I could tell by researching the road and its landmarks, it would be fun to drive it if we had more time. Unfortunately, it's hard for the driver to take in the sights if you are doing it in one day, so we chose to just do a tour.
I had booked the tour with another company originally but because of the tragic fires along the road, they gave us the option for a full refund. We took it... and then re-booked a Great Ocean Road tour with Melbourne Coastal Tours!! Don't tell! We decided we didn't want to chance it with another company and we knew we already liked our experience with MCT.
Tomorrow is our last day in Melbourne, already! Time is flying by.
XOXO
Elissa
